In Loving Memory of
Terry Robert Thomas Gammel

March 23, 1959 - August 6, 2021

It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Terry Gammel, after a short illness with cancer, on Friday, August 6, 2021, at the age of 62 years. Terry passed in his home with Carolyn, his loving wife of 35 years, at his side.

Terry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Those that knew him will never forget his outgoing and playful nature. Terry loved to tease his friends and family, and his jokes will be sorely missed.

Terry held three things close to his heart: family, friends, and the great outdoors. He spent many trips, at all times of the year, camping, fishing, biking, and travelling with those close to him. Before he passed, Terry was able to visit Jasper National Park, a place he was particularly fond of, one final time with Carolyn and a couple of special friends.

Terry was an avid fisherman, enjoying both hard and open water fishing, which allowed him to practice the hobby all year long. He liked to share this passion with others and supported those in his community, happily celebrating their accomplishments. In his spare time, when not fishing, Terry spent many hours tying flies, teasing his wife, and watching the Oilers (although a lifelong Habs fan) and Eskimos.

In his last year, Terry was able to enjoy retirement with the people most important to him.

Terry will be greatly missed by his wife Carolyn; daughters Megan (Kendall) and Morganne (Justin); as well as grandchildren: Reese, Broden, and Jak.

He was predeceased by his daughter Alyssa; his parents Karl and Agnes Gammel; as well as his favourite aunt Louisa Wagner.

Our family would like to thank Dr. Angela Barreth, Tanya of the Palliative Care Team, Home Care, and Rob from Community Paramedics for their care and support during Terry’s illness.

A Celebration of Terry’s life will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2021, from 1:00-4:00pm, at Five Mile Hall (714003 RR53, County of Grande Prairie No.1).

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Terry to Alberta Health Services-North Zone Palliative Care Program (c/o T. Smith 10121 97 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 0N5).
