Danielle Monique Cornick
of Port Au Choix, NL (Grande Prairie, AB)
June 2, 1981 - December 8, 2023
It is with overwhelming sadness that the family of Danielle Monique Cornick announce her passing on Friday, December 8, 2023, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, after a valiant battle with cancer, at the age of 42.
Danielle leaves to mourn, the love of her life, daughter Jasmine “Jazzy” Cornick, mother Iris Cornick (Gould), father Jack Cornick, brother Jackie Cornick, sister Gizelle Biggin (Cornick) and nephews Beau and Jude Biggin. Danielle will be remembered as a kind and caring mother, daughter, sister, aunt, a devoted dance mom, and a dear friend to so many. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her loved ones, who will be forever grateful for all the memories, laughs and love she shared with them.
Raised in her hometown of Port Au Choix, NL, Danielle graduated Roncalli Central High School where she was always academically oriented, and a star student. In the years that followed, Danielle joined the military for a short time, enrolled in nursing at Sir Wilfred Grenfell College, where she completed a year before making her way to Grande Prairie, AB, where she settled and made many meaningful friendships and connections. Danielle was employed at Northwestern Polytechnic College/University and, true to her nature, she was an accessibility advisor supporting her students to overcome barriers to education. Last year Danielle started her dream of completing a Bachelor of Education degree in mathematics, all while working and supporting her daughter through her academics at McGill University. Out of all of Danielle’s accomplishments, Jazzy was her proudest, her legacy.
Danielle was a compassionate soul, devoted animal lover (especially to her fur baby Coco), a die hard Habs fan hoping for one last game in her final days, an adventurer and outdoor enthusiast. She was always up for trying something new. She loved kayaking, hiking and skiing, and she never missed an opportunity to travel.
She was predeceased in death by: maternal grandparents Laura and Fintan Gould; paternal grandparents Laura and George O’Keefe, and Benedict Cornick; Aunt Barbara Gould, Uncle Andre Gould, Uncle Maurice Ryan, Uncle Ronnie O’Keefe, cousin Dylan Gould; and her beloved Coco.
Danielle’s life will be celebrated 6:00 pm Newfoundland Standard Time, on Thursday, December 28th, 2023, at Saint Theresa Roman Catholic Church in Port Au Choix, NL, and livestreamed via Facebook (In Loving Memory of Danielle Cornick https://www.facebook.com/events/882176033404210). She will be laid-to-rest at Interfaith Cemetery a later date.
