Corinne Annabelle Steinke

Corinne A. Steinke, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024, at Prairie Lake Hospice in Grande Prairie, at the age of 79 years.

Corinne was born the sixth child on the sixth day of the sixth month to Rufus and Mabel Morrison in Sexsmith, AB. She was raised on a quaint farm near Sexsmith with her 7 siblings. Their home was full of love, always busy, and jam-packed with antics of some kind or another.

As a very young teenager, she found her passion as a talented seamstress creating herself new outfits out of whatever scraps of material she could lay her hands on.  Ted Steinke came into her life and they soon married in 1960. They lived in the Grande Prairie area. Their son Roger was born in 1962, and Maxine came along soon after in 1964.

The family moved to Quesnel, BC in 1973, before returning to the Grande Prairie area in 1980. Corinne found herself employed at the QEII Hospital in the Housekeeping department where she worked until retirement. Then she was able to spend lots of time creating original sewing projects. She enjoyed music festivals whenever and wherever she and Ted could find one to go to. She also enjoyed her grandchildren as they arrived; one of them always seemed to be around her, whether it was in the kitchen cooking, over her shoulder as she sewed, or listening to music.

She will be sadly missed by her son Roger Steinke; daughter Maxine Steinke; grandchildren: Mitchell Kohn, Emerson Kohn (Nicole), Spencer Kohn (Willow, Echo), and their father Terry Kohn; as well as siblings: Everett (Joy) Morrison, Carrie Withers, and Wayne (Drina) Morrison.

She was predeceased by her parents Rufus and Mabel Morrison, brothers Alfred Morrison, Rufus Morrison, and Dennis Morrison, and sister Eunice Ward.

Deep heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Angela Barreth along with the amazing staff at Prairie Lake Hospice. Our family thanks each and every one.

Celebration for Corinne will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 1:30 pm, in the Amenities Room at 12310 102 Street, Grande Prairie, AB.
