Catherine Eleanor Mackenzie

of Clairmont, Alberta
January 20, 1938 - August 25, 2021

Catherine Eleanor Mackenzie (nee Moffat) resident of Clairmont, AB, formerly of Hines Creek, AB, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at Prairie Lake Seniors Community in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 83 years, surrounded by family.

Catherine was born on January 20, 1938, to Peter and Lauretta Moffat, in Teeswater ON. She was the youngest of 4 daughters. On June 6, 1964, Catherine married James “Jim” Mackenzie. While still in Ontario, their daughter Shelley was born. In 1967, Jim, Cathy, and Shelley moved to Spirit River, AB where two of their sons were born, Sean and Shelby.

Cathy loved to go on drives with her loving husband. In the summer you would find her going to Music Jamborees or camping at Cozy Cove.

Cathy will be sadly missed by her husband of 57 years Jim; children: Shelley (Andrew Lovas), Sean (Kara) Mackenzie,  Shelby (Wayne) Mackenzie, and Randy (Lori) Walker; grandchildren:      Cody (Alicia), Chanice (Brandon), James (Kyra), Jeri-Lyn (Drake), Skye, Alysia, Maggie, Deb (Dylan), Kurt (Dani), Marita (Mark), Alysha, and Danielle; great-grandchildren:          Grayson, Kinley, Everly, Macie, Theo, Donnie, and Thomas; sister Agnes (Lloyd) Buckingham of Kincardine, ON, sister-in-law Ava Mackenzie of Kincardine, ON, brothers-in-law Bruce Mackenzie of Tiverton, ON, and Glenn Mackenzie of Tiverton, ON.

Cathy was predeceased by her parents Peter and Lauretta Moffat, sisters Evelyn (Bill) Splan and Emma (Loran) Peter, brothers-in-law Roy Gibson and Donnie Mackenzie, and sisters-in-law Barb Mackenzie and Carol Mackenzie.

Following the family’s wishes, a Private Family Graveside Service will be held at the Spirit River Cemetery.

Memorial donations to Bandaged Paws Animal Rescue (12220 104 Ave., Grande Prairie, AB, T8V 8A8), or a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
