In Loving Memory of
Brian Zalischuk
of Grande Prairie, Alberta
February 7, 1958 - April 9, 2022
On Saturday, April 9, 2022, Brian Zalischuk, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, passed away after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.
Born in Winnipegosis, MB on February 7, 1958, Brian Zalischuk grew to be an ethical man with an even stronger heart. He was raised by John and Jean Zalischuk. Brian was known for helping friends, family, and strangers alike during his 64 years on this earth.
As an Ironworker in the 728 Union, he had the pride of working on the Calgary Saddle Dome, West Edmonton Mall, and the Winnipeg Human Rights Museum where his memory will live on for years to come.
He was even more proud to be a father of two daughters: Nicole Gacek (Darren) and Robin Henriksen (Clifford) who both blessed him with the four apples of his eye: Cameron Henriksen, Hailey Shaver, Kaitlyn Shaver, and Laveah Pearson. He is also survived by his two brothers Leslie Zalischuk and Jack Zalischuk (Loraine); sister Brenda Toth (Dan); several Aunties and Uncles; and a horde of first and second cousins.
Brian was a role model to many not only for his hard work but for his dedication to building a good life for himself and those around him. For that, he will always be remembered. Brian could often be found drinking coffee with the guys, tinkering on vehicles in his garage, and riding his motorcycle. You could often find him picking raspberries with his grandkids, asking them to tell him stories, and shutting his eyes “looking for cracks” as he would say while he’d fall asleep. He was beloved by so many and will now be found living on within the hearts of all his family and extended family. This includes his Ironworker brothers and many lifelong friends who were blessed to be lifted by his gracious helping hands.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, June 19, 2022, at 11:30 am at Grande Prairie Royal Canadian Legion Branch #54 (9912 101 Ave.).
