Gordon Farnsworth
of LaGlace, Alberta
June 3, 1938 - August 17, 2022
Gordon Farnsworth, resident of LaGlace, AB, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, at Prairie Lake Hospice in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 84 years.
Gordon was born on June 3, 1938, in Poplar Hill, AB to Mildred and Dan Farnsworth, he was the third child of seven.
He married Leona Massee on July 28, 1961, in Sunset Prairie, B.C. They were married 61 years, raising 3 children and were rarely apart, working together to create a loving legacy.
Gordon and Leona were long-time residents of LaGlace. Gordon was well known for the time spent ice-making in the arena. He loved watching minor hockey and playing with the kids. In the 1970s and early 1980s, Gordon worked as a janitor at the high school in Beaverlodge and was the icemaker at the arena. The many friends he made were lovingly remembered, and he shared many stories of the fun times. Gordon loved to travel and spend time with his family in his retirement years.
Gordon will be dearly missed by his wife Leona Farnsworth (nee Massee); daughters Debby Whitfield (Tim), and Milly Lowen (Walter); grandchildren: Terry (Shannon), Justina (Craig), Amanda, Lucas (Kendra), Austin, Kendra (Kyle), and Curstan; great-grandchildren: Collin, Christopher, Mackenzie, Alexis, Aaron, Alaina, and Kara.
Gordon was predeceased by his parents Mildred Farnsworth (nee Garberg) and Dan Farnsworth, son Curtis Farnsworth; sister Donna Farnworth; brothers: Henry, Archie, and Ted Farnsworth; sisters-in-law Myrtle Scott and Gail Farnsworth and brothers-in-law Otto Gerstal and Donald Scott.
A Celebration of Gordon’s Life will be held Saturday, September 3, 2022, at 2:00 pm, at LaGlace Bible Fellowship Church. (SE corner of Hwy 59 and 99th street). Luncheon to follow.
