Mary Brenda Hayes, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Port Au Choix, NL, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024, at Prairie Lake Hospice in Grande Prairie, at the age of 62 years.

Mary was the eldest of seven daughters born to Matthew and Alma Lee on May 27, 1961. Mary was special to all who knew her. She possessed the kindest heart, showing love and care to all her family. Mary had a close relationship with all her sisters, playing a big role in all their lives growing up together.

Mary loved daily walks, the warmth of a sunny day, and doing anything with her family. She loved sports, especially curling, and never wanted to miss a Blue Jays’ game. She made our world a much brighter place just by her presence in it. Her beautiful smile will be missed every day. Her light will be carried in our hearts forever.

She will be sadly missed by her husband Terry Hayes; and sisters: Shirley Lee, Millicent (Wayne) Pike, Stella Lee (Dwight Sparke), Sharon House, and Lucy Lee.

Mary was predeceased by her parents Matthew and Alma Lee, sister Maureen Lee, father and mother-in-law Kevin and Helen House, and goddaughter and niece Christina Wells.

Mary and Terry did not have children of their own, but Mary had a great love for children, caring for greater than 30 children in her lifetime. Mary and Terry had 39 years together and lived their lives according to these words, “We may not have it all together, but together we have it all”.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held in Newfoundland at a later date.
