In Loving Memory of
Leo John Bates

of Grande Prairie, Alberta
July 9, 1972 - October 6, 2024

Leo John Bates, resident of Grande Prairie, AB, formerly of Salmon Arm, BC, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2024, at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital at the age of 52 years.

Leo was born in Fort St John, BC, on July 9, 1972, the only son of Vic (deceased) and Alice Bates. In April 1973, his family moved to Salmon Arm, where they enjoyed many summers on Shuswap Lake. Leo pursued his passion for Harley Davidson motorcycles and was always clad in black leather. He oozed the ‘cool dude’ persona and enjoyed many evenings spent with friends.

He was an extremely talented artist, who used this skill to create intricate sketches and house designs. Always available to help family or friends, his presence was noted by a strong voice and a quiet giggle that was heard often.

Leo will be sadly missed by his three sons, who were his pride and joy - Aidan, Drake, and Jax Bates; his wife of many years Sharon Jobson-Bates; his sister Tammy (Don); his in-laws Floyd and Marion Jobson and Family; the Bates, Tonne, and Soderquist Families; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 26th at 1:00 pm, at Wembley Elementary School (9601 96 St) Wembley, AB.
