In Loving Memory of
Mark Schamehorn

of Sexsmith, Alberta
July 2, 1962 - May 25, 2025

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Mark Schamehorn, a beloved father, grandfather and friend, who left us too early on May 25, 2025. Mark lived a life marked by passion, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to hard work and family. His humour, kindness and his stand up for yourself attitude made a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born on July 2, 1962, in Manning, AB, the youngest of Gus and Dorothy. Mark was full of ambition from a young age, always analysing and trying to figure out how to do things better. Over the years, he wore many hats, truck driver, beekeeper, Production Supervisor at MDFP, and Truck Push all over Canada and the US and brought the same dedication and pride to each role. He believed in ‘Do it right the first time’. To those who worked alongside and for him, he was steady, reliable, and always led by example.

Outside of work, Mark found his greatest joy in spending time with his four sons. Hunting, fishing, camping, and quad trips weren’t just hobbies, they were opportunities to bond with his boys and teach them the lessons of hard work and having fun. Whether catching fish, setting up camp, navigating cutlines, or shooting and butchering a moose, those moments in the wild were an extension of his love for them. He poured his heart into these experiences, sharing them later with his grandkids, knowing they were creating memories that would last a lifetime.

He is survived by his sons Travis (Lori), Barrett, Michael (Rachelle) and Ethan Pittman with his mother Stacy Pittman, and her children Jimi (Jesse), Robby (Julia), Kaitlyn (Kirt). He was deeply proud of his boys and loved them fiercely. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, extended family, and many close friends who will miss him dearly.

A graveside service will be held at the Notikewan Vale of Peace Cemetery north of Manning, AB, (X9JF+55, Notikewin, AB) on August 1, 2025.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Haying in the 30’s Cancer Support Society, a charity that provides help with expenses for people going through cancer treatments.  Box 873 ST Paul, Alberta, T0A 3A0
