Otto Amundson

July 7, 1934 - February 12, 2023

Otto Karl Amundson, resident of Hythe, AB, formerly of Valhalla, AB, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023, at Prairie Lakes Hospice in Grande Prairie, AB, at the age of 88 years.

Otto was born on July 7, 1934, in Valhalla, AB where he was also raised. He was the youngest of 3 brothers and a sister. At an early age, he ventured up the Alaska Highway in search of work. He met his wife Margaret in Fort Nelson, BC, and settled in Summit Lake, BC, to raise their two children, Donna and David.

In the early 1970s, they purchased Muncho Lake Outfitters - a big game guide and outfitting business. These years in Otto's words "were the best years of his life."

In 1980 Otto sold the hunting area. He moved to Dawson Creek, BC, then to Tupper Creek, BC, where he farmed a half section. In the early 1990s, he and Margaret moved to Valhalla, just a short distance from where he was born.

He enjoyed spending time with friends, family, and his horses and cattle.

He will be sadly missed by his daughter Donna; grandsons Chris, Curtis, and Josh; daughter-in-law Colleen; granddaughter Parker Grace; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.

He was predeceased by his son David in October of 2021, and his wife Margaret in October 2008.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
